Public discussion «Ways to independently confirm the legality of timber harvesting in Ukraine»

Due to obstacles to access to public information during the war, there are questions about the possibility of deforestation legality control by the responsible authorities in Ukraine. The issue of closing the export opportunities of conscientious representatives of the forest processing industry may be next.

NGO «ForestCom» offers an online meeting of stakeholders from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Economy, the State Agency of Forest Resources, the Forestry Innovation and Analytical Center, environmental NGOs and other stakeholders to discuss ways to confirm the legality of the Ukrainian wood.

Solving this problem will establish democratic principles of state and public relations development, independent social control over the legality of logging in Ukraine, verification of data on the sustainability of forest use, and maintaining opportunities to export timber to environmentally sensitive EU markets from Ukraine during hostilities.
