A story about fighting illegal loging in Ukraine

Recently, INTERPOL ranked environmental crime the third biggest criminal sector globally, with an estimated value of 110-281 billion USD annually, were the Forestry Crime is highly profitable and reaches a 51-152 billion USD value. Corruption happens at every stage of the Global Timber Supply Chain (INTERPOL,2018-2020).

For the last five years Dmytro Karabchuk work was to organize fighting against corruption with the aim to decrease illegal forest activities in Ukraine by engaging communities and law enforcement. The activities included research, interactions with government officials and public activists, field investigations, media projects, and policy development. Working with a team, he faced difficult situations and decisions but a presence of free media, good friendship, and strong willingness resulted in high level of cooperation with the Ukrainian government, international media and organizations, including Interpol. Dmytro will try to get back you in time to the period starting from the Revolution of Dignity presenting his project results achieved together with WWF and U.S. Forest Service until now. You will be able to discuss the possible future scenarios.
