ForestCom took part in the interagency meeting “Current Issues of the Woodworking Sector and the Impact of Timber Harvesting on the Development of the Industry”
On October 2, 2025, the Director of NGO ForestCom Dmytro Karabchuk took part in the interagency meeting “Current Issues of the Woodworking Sector and the Impact of Timber Harvesting on the Development of the Industry”, held at the Ukrainian National Forestry University (UNFU).
📌 In his address, he presented proposals for tackling the problem of illegal logging and shared the organization’s expertise in enhancing transparency in forest management. It was agreed that these proposals will be reviewed by Members of Parliament who attended the meeting.
🎯 Key topics of the meeting included:

the current state and challenges of the woodworking sector;

the impact of forest inventory and planning on timber harvesting volumes;
-
projections for timber harvesting in 2026–2028;
-
shaping state policy in the forestry, woodworking, and furniture industries.
👥 Among the keynote speakers were MPs Bohdan Kytsak, Rostyslav Tistyk, and Oleksandr Kovalchuk, Acting Head of the Lviv Regional Council Yuriy Kholod, Rector of UNFU Volodymyr Zahorskyi, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, and the State Forests of Ukraine.
