NGO ForestCom and Stryyskyy Park signed a memorandum of cooperation

The iconic Central Park in New York City was designed in 1857 and completed in 1872 on marshy grounds. Surprisingly, just five years later, Stryyskyy Park in Lviv was also conceptualized on former cemetery and abandoned land. The number of trees planted in Lviv's park was twice that of Central Park.

Stryyskyy Park, formerly Kilinski Park, stands out as one of the most beautiful and extensive parks in Europe. Crafted by the talented landscape artist Arnold Rering, the park boasts over 200 tree species, including tulip trees, various magnolias, Weeping Norway spruce, Japanese lilac, Manchurian aralia, and Ginkgo biloba, among others.

During its early years, the park already featured an orangery, alpine garden, plane and lime tree alleys, terraces, cascades with natural stone, and a lake. Today, the "Tarasova Willow" stands as a testament to growth, evolving from a small twig to evoke the spirit of the Ukrainian Kobzar. The park played a role in the inception of Europe's first electric trams and witnessed the first football match between Lviv and Krakow teams. Currently, it houses a collection of renowned granite sculptures from contemporary Ukraine.

Our environmental organization, "Forest Initiatives and Communities," is delighted to collaborate with the illustrious Stryyskyy Park, solidified through a recently signed Memorandum of Partnership, contributing to its ongoing development.

On December 21, 2023, the Memorandum of Cooperation was formally signed between the NGO "ForestCom" and the Stryyskyy Park.

Ahead lies meticulous work towards realizing numerous joint initiatives, scientific projects, and undertakings.
