Experts of the ForestCom NGO took part in the forum on the reform of the forest industry

Three experts of the ForestCom NGO took part in the Interregional educational and practical forum "Forests of Ukraine: European integration, war, climate change and modern reforms". The event took place on February 21-22 in Kyiv and brought together a cohort of professional like-minded people who discussed the issues of quantitative and qualitative assessment of the level of damage to forests as a result of hostilities, ways to restore ecological and economic damage, forest sector reforms, protection of forests from the spread of fires, climate change and other issues.


Dmytro Karabchuk, executive director of the ForestCom NGO, candidate of science and technology, an expert on forest policy and the development of forestry and hunting, presented the "Concept of reforming forest protection and developing tools for monitoring and preventing illegal logging".


Oleg Chaskovskyy, head of "Forest Monitoring Laboratory",  Candidate of Agricultural Sciences. n., expert in remote sensing of the Earth, spoke on the topic "Monitoring of forest plantations in real time to assess forest loss in the Ukrainian Carpathians".


Taras Kharachko, head of the "ForestRestoration Center", candidate of Agricultural Sciences. n., expert on forest restoration and eco-education spoke on the topic "Changing approaches to artificial forest restoration as a key to growing climate-resistant forests in Ukraine".


The event was implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine together with the Association of Environmental Professionals "PAEU" within the framework of the UN Program for Reconstruction and Peacebuilding with the financial support of the European Union.
